September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month
Did you know:
- Over 23 million children from ages 2-19 are obese or overweight
- Childhood obesity has tripled in the past 30 years
- The financial implications from childhood obesity may pose a threat to the health care system and economy
- Obese children have an 80 percent chance of being obese adults
The U.S. Senate has designated September as National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. Join Ladybug for Girls and help raise awareness for childhood obesity.
With kids returning to school, it's a wonderful time to introduce (or re-introduce) healthy habits.
Some easy and healthy tips to help your children and yourself move towards a healthier lifestyle are:
- Eat less fast-food meals and eat more healthy home-cooked meals (plus, it's a great way to get the family together each day)
- Eat healthy snacks (fruits, vegetables, whole grains, yogurt, peanut butter, etc.) every day
- Getting your kids to have at least half an hour of indoor or outdoor play each day
- Limit TV and computer time to no more than two hours per day to help everyone stay active
If you have any other tips or feedback feel free to leave a comment!

Have A Great Labor Day!
It's an extra long weekend and we have remarkably beautiful weather! Just perfect for this holiday weekend. So, question is what kind of activities are you participating in? No doubt, it's going to be a lot of eating delicious (and of course, nutritious) food! This is an excellent time to get the family together to do a few active and very fun activities.
Just a few suggestions for great family and friend fun:
-swimming
-a frisbee game
-a flag football/softball game
-walking
There are a ton of fun activities, but those are just a few that I could think of. Enjoy your Labor Day weekend and be safe!
Signing out,
- Jane Marie
